Expert Guidance Drives Improvement—Precise Diagnosis Solves Challenges: Experts in the Casting Field from Guizhou University Visit Guiyang Xianfeng Foundry & Forging Branch for Guidance and Exchange.

2025-08-22

To effectively tackle the long-standing challenge of shrinkage defects in castings such as pulleys and large bed frames, which have plagued production at the Foundry and Forging Branch, and to enhance product quality and process levels, on August 22, 2025, Guiyang Xianfeng Machine Tool Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Guiyang Xianfeng") specially invited Professor Peng Heyi and Professor Ding Xu, experts in the field of casting from Guizhou University, to visit the Foundry and Forging Branch for technical guidance and exchange. The management and key technical personnel of Guiyang Xianfeng's Foundry and Forging Branch warmly welcomed them and participated fully throughout the visit.

To effectively overcome the long-standing challenge of shrinkage defects in castings such as pulleys and large bed frames, which have long plagued production at the Casting and Forging Branch Factory, and to enhance product quality and process levels, 2025 Year 8 Moon 22 On the day, Guiyang Xianfeng Machine Tool Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Guiyang Xianfeng Professor Peng Heyi and Professor Ding Xu, experts in the field of casting from Guizhou University, were specially invited to visit the Casting and Forging Branch Factory to provide technical guidance and engage in exchanges. The management and technical backbone of the Guiyang Xianfeng Casting and Forging Branch Factory extended a warm welcome and participated fully throughout the visit.

Go deep into the field and conduct on-site investigations to get to the root of the issue.

Accompanied by the leadership and technical staff of the Casting and Forging Branch, the two experts first entered the machining workshop, where they carefully examined the shrinkage cavity defects in the scrapped belt pulley castings. They engaged in an in-depth exchange on details such as process parameter control, raw material selection for melting, and pouring temperature, with a particular focus on analyzing the key stages and root causes of shrinkage cavity formation. Afterwards, the group moved to the casting workshop to hold an on-site discussion aimed at addressing the issue of shrinkage cavities and cracks in large bedplates. Based on the casting’s structural characteristics and production process, experts conducted on-site simulations to identify potential defect formation pathways, thereby accumulating solid, first-hand data for subsequent systematic analysis.

Specialized seminar: Combining theory with analysis to pinpoint the crux of the issue.

After the on-site inspection, both parties agreed to... Causes of Shrinkage Cavities in Pulleys and Large Bed Castings and Control Strategies A special seminar was held on the topic. At the meeting, the plant’s leadership team provided a detailed introduction to recent typical cases of shrinkage cavities, as well as the current process plans, the improvement measures already implemented, and the bottleneck issues.

Exchange and interaction, offering advice and suggestions to point the way forward.

The Q&A session was lively and practical. Technical staff from the branch factory enthusiastically asked questions, addressing real-world challenges encountered in daily production—from adjusting specific process parameters to details of equipment operation—and shared their experiences and insights. Chokehold The experts were consulted one by one to tackle the tough challenges. Faced with everyone’s confusion, the two professors listened patiently and carefully broke down the issues step by step. They not only explained the essence of the problems using professional theories but also provided concrete guidance based on industry case studies, offering a series of improvement suggestions that were both forward-looking and highly actionable. The suggestions closely aligned with actual production practices, directly addressing the core of the problems while also charting a clear path for future technological breakthroughs. As a result, those present suddenly “got it” and gained a clearer direction and greater confidence in solving the problem of shrinkage defects.

Abundant achievements—working together to write a new chapter.

This exchange was practical and efficient, not only providing new insights into solving the problem of shrinkage cavities and clarifying the direction for tackling this challenge, but also deepening the collaboration between enterprises and universities in industry-academia-research integration. Both sides expressed their willingness to take this exchange as an opportunity to engage in in-depth cooperation in areas such as talent development, technological research and development, and project攻关, thereby jointly promoting technological advancement in the industry.

Through this exchange, the staff at the branch factory have significantly enhanced their theoretical understanding and problem-solving capabilities regarding shrinkage defects, laying a solid foundation for subsequently developing scientifically sound process improvement plans. As the next step, the Guiyang Xianfeng Casting and Forging Branch Factory will systematically organize the experts’ recommendations and translate them into concrete action plans, striving to overcome the challenges of casting defects at an early date and further elevate product quality to a new level.
