Working overtime without complaint, enduring hardship and taking on any task willingly—Lu Xiaofeng, a toolmaker and “Party Member Pioneer” from the Guizhou Xianfeng Final Assembly Branch Party Cell, spent his Qingming holiday working extra hours to trial-grind customer rollers.

On the afternoon of April 3, 2024, the Guiyang Xianfeng Final Assembly Branch received an urgent notice from the company’s Marketing Center: a potential high-quality customer was seeking two rolls with the following specifications: total length of 1,200 mm, grinding length of 700 mm, surface roughness Ra: 0.08, and no defects such as chatter marks, spiral patterns, or scratches on the ground surface. These rolls were to be trial-ground on-site at the Final Assembly Branch using the product MK8440×45 (Chenxin). Moreover, the grinding work had to be completed within three days according to the customer’s requirements. The customer indicated that if the roll shape and surface quality of the trial-ground rolls met their standards, they would give priority to Xianfeng products when purchasing new grinding equipment.

Upon receiving this task, the leadership team of the Guiyang Xianfeng Final Assembly Branch attached great importance to it and actively communicated with Lu Xiaofeng, a Party member from the branch. They briefed him on the task’s details and the deadline requirements. Without hesitation, Comrade Lu Xiaofeng immediately accepted the task and promptly began making the necessary preparations. Within just three days, he had to overcome numerous challenges, including the unstable operation of equipment still in the debugging and running-in phase, mismatched materials between the grinding wheels and the trial-milled rolls, and a tight schedule. To ensure the successful completion of this task, Comrade Lu Xiaofeng, together with the branch’s technical staff, voluntarily gave up their vacation time and worked overtime for three consecutive days, conducting continuous debugging and grinding operations. Through persistent exploration and repeated experimentation, they finally completed the task successfully on the very first day back to work after the holiday.

Comrade Lu Xiaofeng has never set any conditions or voiced any complaints; he has unconditionally obeyed the arrangements made by the branch factory and the company. He has given up his holiday breaks and worked side by side with technical staff, brainstorming solutions and coming up with innovative ideas. He dares to innovate, is bold in trying new approaches, and demonstrates strong teamwork and dedication. He is diligent and committed, and bravely takes on challenging tasks involving the experimentation of new functions and processes. With his ever-growing courage in the face of setbacks and his down-to-earth, hardworking attitude, Comrade Lu Xiaofeng has overcome numerous difficulties and pioneered innovation—serving as an exemplary role model for all of us to learn from.
