“Important Notice! Important Notice! Important Notice! Due to heavy rainfall, numerous workshops are experiencing extensive roof leaks and inadequate drainage, resulting in flooded premises. We have already notified the Power and Machinery Repair Branch Factory to cut off power to the plant area. All units are requested to make appropriate arrangements…” This urgent notice was posted in the production WeChat group of Guiyang Xianfeng Machine Tool Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Guiyang Xianfeng”).
Around 7 p.m. on August 1, the Huishui area was hit by a sudden torrential downpour that lasted for an extended period and brought heavy rainfall. As a result, the Guizhou Xianfeng production workshop experienced extensive roof leaks, and drainage efforts were overwhelmed, causing water to backflow. Several production workshops at Guizhou Xianfeng were severely flooded, putting the company’s production facilities, equipment, products, and a large amount of company property at grave risk.

Although no advance warning had been received, Comrade Mu Yunjie, a member of the Party Committee and Executive Deputy General Manager of Guiyang Xianfeng, who possesses keen judgment, immediately alerted all units via the production group and made timely arrangements and deployments. The responsible persons in each unit responded swiftly and took immediate action, rushing to the workshop sites without delay to organize the transfer of overtime workers to safe areas, racing against time. Meanwhile, that evening, Comrade Liu Haobo, a member of the Party Committee and Assistant to the General Manager, led the on-duty personnel—Chen Yinglong, Ding Huihui, Peng Qibing, and Deng Wei—to carry out coordinated inspections across all workshops and warehouses, braving the heavy rain and meticulously documenting their findings. Upon detecting any abnormalities, they promptly reported them.

Comrade Yi Yaxiang, Party Secretary and Chairman of Guiyang Xianfeng, emphasized in particular that identifying and addressing risks is fundamental; resolving these issues is urgently needed; eliminating potential hazards is a prerequisite; and comprehensive follow-up rectifications represent the measures and a closed-loop system for continuous improvement. Relevant departments must attach great importance to this matter, work together to solve problems, and ensure that implementation is thorough and concrete. All relevant company departments are urged to take this seriously and act swiftly to put these measures into practice.
On the morning of August 2, the weather was clear, and Guizhou Xianfeng’s post-rain inspection work was proceeding smoothly and in an orderly manner. Key personnel from Guizhou Xianfeng’s Casting & Forging Branch, Final Assembly Branch, Metalworking Branch, Production & Supply Department, and Technology Center arranged for their respective teams to inspect their buildings and work areas for any signs of roof leaks or damage to infrastructure, and then report their findings to the company’s Chief Engineer’s Office, so that coordination could be streamlined and leak repairs could be carried out more precisely after the rain. The primary focus of each branch was to drain any remaining standing water, clean workshop floors, check whether facilities and equipment were functioning properly, and tally up all types of losses. To ensure that subsequent production would not be affected, every employee present was working tirelessly...

Faced with the sudden heavy rainfall, the leadership team of Guiyang Xianfeng attached great importance to the situation. On the one hand, they promptly monitored and grasped the weather conditions and flood situation, and immediately notified the relevant departments to cut power to the factory area, thereby ensuring the personal safety of employees working overtime at various sub-factories. On the other hand, they immediately activated the emergency flood-control plan, organized the responsible persons from each sub-factory, and actively implemented response measures, conducting thorough inspections to minimize losses and ensure that the company’s assets and production facilities and equipment would be spared from further damage.
The people of Xianfeng are undaunted by wind and rain, demonstrating a fine spirit and exemplary demeanor. They quickly mobilized their forces and organized flood-control efforts in a scientific, efficient, and orderly manner, implementing a wide range of measures. United as one, they managed to minimize losses to the greatest extent possible. It is precisely because of this group of admirable individuals that Guiyang Xianfeng has steadily advanced on the path of high-quality development over the past several years, weathering storms and challenges with resilience and determination.
