This September marks the 46th National Quality Month. To enhance quality awareness among employees and improve their skill levels, from September 27 to October 12, the Casting and Forging Branch of Guiyang Xianfeng Machine Tool Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Guiyang Xianfeng”) has been closely focused on achieving its annual targets and making a vigorous final push to meet the production tasks for the fourth quarter. Under the theme of “Quality First—Establishing Quality as Life Itself and Comprehensively Enhancing Quality Governance Capabilities and Product Competitiveness,” the branch organized a large-scale skills competition for furnace operators, using competitions to boost production, quality to drive efficiency, skills contests to promote learning, and learning to elevate technical expertise.

This quality and skill competition focuses on two key areas: visual estimation of molten iron temperature and pouring technique. The event features one first-place, one second-place, and one third-place winner in each category. Specifically, the visual estimation of molten iron temperature primarily assesses the blast furnace operators’ ability to accurately judge the temperature of the molten iron being poured. By visually estimating the approximate temperature of the molten iron, operators can track changes in temperature throughout the pouring process, thereby effectively evaluating the quality of the molten iron and selecting the appropriate pouring temperature based on the size of the casting. The pouring technique competition aims to standardize the pouring procedures of blast furnace operators, enhance their pouring skills, and thus improve quality control during the casting process, ultimately reducing the rate of defective castings and minimizing casting defects. The competition content is closely aligned with actual production tasks, which not only ignites the participants' enthusiasm for their work but also enhances their awareness of quality excellence. This competition was guided by Shi Yuefei, the director of the Guiyang Xianfeng Casting and Forging Branch Factory, and supervised and judged by Wang Huan, the head of the Quality Inspection Department. All employees participated, and the process was fair, just, and transparent.

During the competition, the contestants demonstrated composure, proficiency, and seamless organization. On this stage, they fully showcased their expert skills, ensuring that their eyes, minds, and hands were perfectly synchronized—a testament to Jiusheng’s unwavering commitment to quality and its relentless pursuit of excellence in quality control. This skills competition is not only a platform for employees to innovate and create but also a venue for Jiusheng staff to hone their skills, learn from one another, and grow together. Moreover, it serves as a practical training exercise aimed at guiding and deepening all employees’ on-the-job practice. Through this event, many employees have identified gaps between their theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Participants unanimously emphasized that winning or losing was secondary; what truly mattered was the opportunity to enhance their job-specific skills, recognize their own shortcomings, and commit themselves even more diligently to continuous learning, active competition, and personal growth. In their daily work, they pledged to minimize quality issues to the greatest extent possible and to carry out all production tasks more safely, efficiently, and with higher quality.

Quality is the source of an enterprise’s development, its very lifeblood, and even its soul. All members are not only guardians of quality but also drivers of its continuous improvement. Through this quality skills competition, we seize the opportunity to further strengthen employee cohesion, boost their work enthusiasm, and foster a positive atmosphere in which everyone cares about quality, values quality, creates quality, and enjoys quality—while placing great emphasis on enhancing our own individual quality skills.

Next, all branches and departments of Guiyang Xianfeng will continue to strictly adhere to the company’s requirements for “building a strong enterprise through quality,” adopting a spirit of “learning without limits” to deepen quality management, strengthen on-the-job training, establish skill benchmarks, comprehensively enhance employee competence, solidify the skills foundation, and continuously drive the company’s high-quality development.
