In 2023, high-quality development has become the “main theme” and “strongest voice” of our era. Entering the production workshop of Guiyang Xianfeng Machine Tool Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Guiyang Xianfeng”), we saw workers skillfully carrying out assembly, packing, loading, and other tasks. The workshop manager explained that currently, Guiyang Xianfeng’s main product—the CNC roll grinder—has accumulated over 40 newly signed orders, with an output value exceeding 200 million yuan. The company’s order-production schedule is fully booked through the third quarter of 2024, and orders continue to rise steadily.

Founded in 1958, Guiyang Xianfeng is a state-owned machine tool manufacturer that produced China’s first roll grinder and the first CNC roll grinder. It currently serves as the drafting and revising body for industry standards in the roll grinding machine sector.

As a leader in the machine tool industry, Guiyang Xianfeng has consistently regarded technological innovation as the primary driving force behind the company’s development in recent years. Facing new situations, new tasks, and new challenges, the company has always maintained a spirit of “pioneering,” an entrepreneurial drive for “innovation,” and a work ethic characterized by “practical action.” Using technological research as a platform and market demand as its guiding principle, Guiyang Xianfeng has stepped up R&D investment, accelerated the commercialization of research findings, and embarked on a vibrant path of high-quality development.

As of November 2023, Guiyang Xianfeng has received numerous honors and awards, including the Second Prize of the Guizhou Province Science and Technology Progress Award and the title of National Intellectual Property Advantage Enterprise for 2023. Guiyang Xianfeng has consistently focused on innovative R&D and application in the manufacturing of high-end CNC precision grinding machines. Its “Xianfeng” brand roll grinders and centerless grinders are exported worldwide and widely used in industries such as steel, military industry, shipbuilding, auto parts, papermaking, and new energy. Guiyang Xianfeng is a key backbone enterprise in China’s machine tool manufacturing industry.

Guiyang Xianfeng deeply integrates enterprise production and operation with intellectual property work. It continuously undertakes self-reform in specialized areas such as CNC grinding machine product design and development, blank casting, manufacturing, and inspection and measurement. The company consistently adheres to the guiding principle of "specialization, refinement, and innovation for development," taking independent innovation as its main thread and intellectual property as its driving force. Over the years, Guiyang Xianfeng has undertaken numerous major scientific and technological research projects at the national, provincial, and municipal levels. Its new product development has repeatedly filled domestic gaps. The company holds more than 50 independently developed and utility model patents, and has achieved a series of significant scientific and technological breakthroughs as well as innovative results with independent intellectual property rights. As a result, it has been honored as a “Guizhou City Intellectual Property Advantage Enterprise,” a “National Specialized, Refined, and Innovative ‘Little Giant’” enterprise, and a “Guizhou Province High-Tech Enterprise.”

Meanwhile, the Guizhou Xianfeng project titled “Key Technologies and Industrial Application of High-Efficiency Precision CNC Roller Grinding Machines” has invented new structural designs, novel processes, and advanced machining methods for critical friction pairs aimed at high-efficiency, precision roller grinding. It has also developed new technologies for generating roller profile curves tailored to high-efficiency, precision roller grinding, overcome technical challenges in flexible roller support systems for high-efficiency, precision CNC roller grinding machines, and created innovative measurement devices and electro-hydraulic control methods for such machines. Based on these groundbreaking achievements, the award-winning project has been granted a total of 13 national invention patents and 17 utility model patents; it has formulated and released 3 industry standards and 5 enterprise standards; published one monograph; and produced 32 high-level academic papers. Moreover, the project has generated direct economic benefits exceeding 20 million yuan for the company.

Through these technological innovations with independent intellectual property rights, a technical system for domestically produced high-efficiency, precision CNC roll-grinding machines has been established. As a result, the grinding efficiency and grinding accuracy of domestically produced CNC roll-grinding machines have been significantly improved. The key performance indicators of these domestically produced high-efficiency, precision CNC roll-grinding machines have now reached the level of comparable imported products, essentially meeting the demand for high-efficiency, precision CNC roll-grinding machines in China’s steel rolling, metallurgy, nonferrous metal processing, papermaking, and rubber industries.

Since its establishment in 1958, Guiyang Xianfeng has been deeply rooted in the industry for many years, consistently taking Party building as its guiding principle, talent as its support, and innovation as its driving force.
